orange peel tea has been supporting my week.
i place the orange peels into a vessel, pour boiling water over them and let sit for ten minutes. i then place honey in a tall yellow cylindrical ceramic cup that was a gift (and my new favorite cup) from my friend lydia and enjoy.
i had a roommate once who would eat oranges and place the rinds in the window afterward. i would come downstairs and see the sun shining on the orange peels that were sitting next to the monstera plant in the window. one morning i saw them collect a few of the peels and pour water over them and the fragrance made me feel immediate peace and joy. they offered me a cup and i accepted and added a little honey to the mixture - and to this day orange peel tea is one of my favorite teas to bring me comfort and joy.
my senses feel brightened when i smell the fragrance that the oil in the rind gives off when it is heated by the boiling water that is poured over it. i feel a sense of comfort and warmth while holding the mug and adding honey and hearing the spoon hit the ceramic sides of the mug.
orange peel tea reminds me of the sun outside and the sun within me and it is one of my favorite teas when i have any feelings of overwhelm or depression.
the last time i made chai i made a batch of cardamom, black and white peppercorns, clove and cinnamon that i did not add to loose assam tea and i am looking forward to mixing some orange peel in with this mixture for deeper heart warming.
how do you drink your orange peel tea?
how do you warm your heart and mind when the need arises?
i have an upcoming herbs for dreams workshop on april 19 and i would love to see you there! since about 2015, i started co-facilitating a workshop with joy anderson with WXPT in los angeles andhave been working with sharing herbs for dreams workshops and each one feels so special and unique and full.
it has been really inspiring to see and feel what happens when we co-create a container to give our dreams voice and activation with the energetic support of community or simply have the space to say dreams out loud that we’ve previously been afraid to say out loud or maybe didn’t quite remember - and to see how not alone we are in the symbols we receive or the “recurringness” of some dreams or messages.
if you or anyone you know would like to spend some time sitting with your dreams and talking about plant medicine to support your dreams please sign up/ spread the word!
i have previously offered this workshop through wellness and institutional spaces and this is my first time and the beginning of me offering classes outside of those spaces in addition to those spaces. i am a bit nervous and so excited to begin to offer workshops in this way and very much look forward to dream diving together.
i recently joined Luna for a conversation about moon wisdom and conquering fear. i met luna earlier this year and we had a lot of time together in the ocean. luna supported me and moving past some residual fear around resting in the water that has supported me in resting outside of that space which has supported my work and relationship in the water which really supports me in being vulnerabe and tender and understanding with myself! i am grateful for the time i had with luna and to be able to join them on this instagram live to talk about ocean water, ancestral technologies and healing with the water. if you use instagram you can take a look at the talk from last week here. thank you.
thank you for reading and for your support.
love,
charmaine
Great read Charmaine! So many of us discard the skin of oranges, limes/ lemons, and pineapples, and with that the healing and immune system supportive benefits for the body.
