lavender + mugwort, schools of fish
I accidentally left my goggles behind when I went to go visit a friend. I love using goggles because strong salt water really irritates my eyes and I enjoy looking at the schools of fish while I swim in the morning.
I left my goggles behind with my friend, after her son had asked if he could take them to the pool and I had told him I was about to head home so I wouldn’t be able to give him the goggles while he went to his friends house to play because I wasn’t sure when he’d b back and I would probably be gone by time he returned.
It was in the uber on the way back to my place when I realized that I left my goggles behind and for some reason when I realized it just made me smile. While I was disappointed that I didn’t have my googles, I was happy that they were left behind with someone who would love and cherish them and also I was happy to leave something behind with my friends children, especially since I am not sure when I will see them again since they live so far away.
I have a spare pair of goggles in the house that I don’t use because they get foggy and water seeps into them while I am swimming - so ever since leaving my goggles behind, I go swimming without any goggles at all. It turns out that it isn’t so bad especially on days where the salt doesn’t feel so strong and I will have a functioning pair of goggles soon.
One of the things that I noticed on the first swim that I took without the goggles was how nice it felt to open my eyes in waters that felt familiar - so while the sharpness of being able to see what was in front of me wasn’t as clear, I felt a trust.
In one moment as I was swimming a hurried yet prolonged glimmer passed in front of me. I realized that it was a school of fish passing in front of me, but because I was without my goggles I wasn’t able to see the details or outlines of the fish so clearly. The refraction of light off of the scales of the fish felt magical to see and it made me think of all the planes and portals that we are also swimming in outside of the water. How there is so much around us that we know to be there but can’t necessarily see with clarity - or the outlines. It made me think a lot about expansion in trust and how to know what to trust what is near and what is far away. And how the element of time and repetition plays into the experience of that trust.
This happens every now and then with my dreams, I wake up with a glimmer within my body of the travels that I embarked upon while sleeping but instead of visuals I am left with a sense of what occurs. It happened this week when I walked into my room and could smell the scent of my Aunt Alice, who passed away last year.
I wrote my sister a text, letting her know that I smelled aunt Alice and my sister responded telling me that she had a dream about her and so did my niece. This felt comforting. And I was curious about the dreams and about how we were all together in this moment of sensing, through smell and through our dreams. How glimmers of Aunt Alice were weaving in and out of our knowing and bringing us together in our sharing.
THE DREAM SUPPPORT HOTLINE
I am working on Season 2 of the dream suppport hotline, which will be released in late September/ October of this year! I am really excited to continue working on this project and to listen to everyones dreams, learn about new dream symbols and to share interpretations. The hotlines are open and I welcome your calls. Your calls mean so much to me! If calling this number isn’t accessible , please feel free to record a voice memo or send me an email to dream.suppport.line@gmail.com ( suppport in this case has 3 p’s!) and I will listen to your dream/ get right back to you!
Also if you know anyone who needs support with a dream or would benefit from the dream hotline please feel free to share my newsletter with them! Thank you so much for helping spread the word.
Herbs/ foods/ plants that have been good for me in the past few weeks/ months.
fresh spearmint + fresh lemongrass - have been on constant rotation and I drink them at night to support relaxation and my wind down time. * spearmint is a diuretic and as someone who has struggled with insomnia and waking up multiple times through the night I try not to ingest things before bed that may disrupt my sleep, but hey it happens! When I drink spearmint before bed I do end up waking up a few times to use the bathroom but the soothing before bed that I feel supported in makes waking up a few times well worth it for me!
Speaking of insomnia I did this foot soak last night and it helped me sleep more deeply than I have in a little while!
materials used:
pink himalayan sea salt
mugwort
lavendar
rose
hot water
cool water
I let my feet soak for about twenty minutes, I then throughly dry my feet and moisturize them with oil.
What do you all use in your foot soaks? How have your dreams and sleep been?
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my newsletter.
sending love,
Charmaine
