dream suppport hotline - herbs for dreams- deep diving with friends
Hi Everyone, how are you! Happy Saturday, Happy upcoming New moon and Happy Upcoming Scorpio Season. How are your dreams feeling? Are they vivid visually, are you waking up with the memory of a smell or a color? Are the dream memories mostly in your body when you wake up? Today’s newsletter is more announcement focused with me sharing some of my upcoming offerings. I also have a bit of water and herbal reflection at the end of today’s newsletter.
If you'd like some support in your dream practice I'm excited to share some offerings such as the dream suppport hotline, airing this Sunday and virtual herbs for dreams workshops.
I am excited to share that just several days before the new moon in Scorpio, the new episode of the dream suppport hotline will be broadcasting on movement radio athens. the hotline is back! and will be airing once a month, always near the new moon, on Sundays and at 5pm EST.
Another exciting update related to the show is that this season will include calls from where I am located in Brazil, the hotline will feature dreams in English and Portuguese language and I am excited - this is in line with my intention of the line, to be in global Black diaspora conversation about dream symbols. The dream lines are open 843-940-8285 and I am taking calls - I am also open to receiving voice memos sent in to my email address, dream.suppport.line@gmail.com !
I am excited to receive and listen to more dreams, and I need some help spreading the word! Do you think you could help spread the word to Black folks who need support with dreams? That would mean so much! The calls are an essential part of the radio show and the space and I could use some help letting folks know that the lines are open, especially since I am on a birthday month instagram hiatus.
Thank you so much and please tune in this Sunday at 5pm EST <3 !
Herbs for dreams is an herbalism workshop where together we contemplate our dreams symbols, revisit our dream imagery, speak to our dreams and review herbs that support us in dream work. We will work together on tools that support us in the swimming in the portal of our dream space such as drawing dream portals and working with audio to gain deeper insight into past dreams that we have had or dreams that we would like to have in the future. We also review some sleep hygiene habits that can support us in sleeping more restfully, which may support deeper dream recall. i look forward to sharing this workshop with you!
Upon Purchase you will receive a link to watch the workshop and follow along at your own pace and timing.

my birthday is coming up and i am so excited about this moment of reflection and intention setting that has been present this past month. one of the things that i really am placing energy into in this coming year is to learn free diving! i have been working on building my trust and deepening my relationship with the ocean water this year and it has been deeply transformative.
i grew up along the coast of south carolina, but i didnt spend so much time at the beach as a young person. there was the sands beach in port royal, south carolina where my family lived and grew up after many Gullah people were displaced from Parris Island, which is now a marine base. the sands beach in port royal, was closer to my home and i would go to mostly at night with friends. but what we considered “the beach” was hunting island state park, and it was pretty far away from my home, about a 40 minute drive - it is also private, so there was an admission that had to be paid to get in. i often went to hunting island beach as a girl scout to camp and occasionally on beach trips.
recently though, i also reflected on how growing up with surrounded by colorism - (which exists everywhere, yet i was reflecting on the specific way it plays out in the southern united states where i grew up) and having that reflected back at me impacted my desire to go to the beach and be in the sun.
my friend who is visiting and i were talking about our water experiences and our connection to the ocean and i shared that although i took swimming lessons while young, grew up by the water ( the atlantic ocean and the beaufort river) and have always felt connection with the water and would spend quite a lot of time by the river to reflect and ground, i didnt go to the beach often. mostly because of the distance and also during the summer i wouldnt go because of some of my fears of becoming darker and dealing with the onslaught of colorism ( teasing, intense remarks on how dark i had become, being treated differently than friends and family members who were lighter skinned than me, etc) that would come as a result. although i definitely absorbed and internalized a lot of these ideas around what it meant to be dark skin - it never felt okay or right or true and once i left home i decided to explore the why behind why this thinking exists and to undo this thinking within myself and to surround myself with others who did not think or act out on these ideas.
what a journey.
a big part of my journey with exploring how this system was constructed, the history around it and deepening my self love once I left the house after high school was not only reading texts by authors who explored frameworks of white supremacy and how it impacts colorism, homophobia, racism and sexism - but I also made it my mission to go outside and spend as much time in the sun as possible. my goal became to become as dark skinned as I possibly could and to swim in that experience. the words of bell hooks, toni morrison, patricia hill collins and so many other black women writers truly held and nurtured me in this process.
perhaps this was the first part of my becoming comfortable in the water and i am thankful for the conversation with my friend the other day to remind me of this part of my water journey.
i met this same friend at the beach yesterday and we swam out away from the shore together - we floated, talked some and then i asked them for some tips on diving down and expanding lung capacity. this is one of the things that i still get nervous about while underwater. my friend is an amazing and gifted diver, they move with such intention and i was hoping to glean some insight from them as to how to confidently stay underwater for longer. they shared with me a few tips such as, before going under, set an intention, such as retrieving a piece of trash that i may locate on the ocean floor, and also to hold my nose initially during the process because on my first few tries of diving down i was experiencing a lot of ear popping on my way back up to the surface.
every time i go to the water i feel grateful to connect and definitely learn something new and yesterday felt especially exhilarating and it was in those moments of diving that i felt, yes! i am going to do this! i am going to work with free diving this year, learn how to and deepen my experience with my time in the water.
herbal support for me has looked like:
taking the cannabis and lemon balm tincture that i have recently made- it’s delicious and soothing and grounding and supportive of easing anxiety. ( for inquiries about the tincture feel free to reach out!)
i have also been drinking a lot of spearmint - a favorite always
and my recent blue lotus tincture has been in heavy rotation as well ( please reach out for inquiries about this tincture if you have interest in learning more)
Thank you for reading.
love,
charmaine
